Collection: john kenn mortensen
Born in 1978 John Kenn Mortensen is an atypical figure of the Scandinavian art scene who lives and works in Copenhagen.
Producer and director of children's television shows by day, at nightfall he trades storyboards and cameras for a stack of post-it, his favorite medium.
An economy of means which allows him to bring life to a gallery of friendly frightening creatures in all circumstances.
Published respectively in 2011 and 2012, the books Sticky Monsters and More Post-it Monsters made his macabre universe known internationally, whose precise line evokes Edward Gorey, the maxi-monsters of Maurice Sendak as well as the humour of Charles Addams, creator of the family of the same name.
These collections were released in France by Warum publishing under the title Monstres pense-bêtes.
Over the years, John Kenn Mortensen's drawings have expanded from their small yellow rectangles and now extend into impressive compositions teeming with details.
