Collection: jean-luc navette

Jean-Luc Navette was born in 1975 in Villeurbanne. He lives and works between Lyon and Kassel. A graduate of the Emile Cohl art school in 1999 where he studied illustration and comics, he turned to tattooing in 2001 and opened Viva Dolor, his own studio in 2003.

During the same period, he created numerous concert posters and record covers; orchestrating through his illustrations a hallucinatory nocturnal parade where outlaws and bad girls come across disturbing spectral apparitions ; zealous ambassadors of Thanatos.

Dernier été du vieux monde and Nocturnes, two monographs published by Noire Méduse in 2012 and 2017 reflect this approach. His work around artist's book is still developping with Banzaï Editions which published in 2020 ... That the sky opens, a facsimile of his sketchbooks, and then Nous ne sommes qu'un secret in 2023.

When it comes to exhibitions, Jean-Luc Navette is a rare artist. After a major presentation in 2012 for the very first Art Show organized by the magazine HEY! at the Halle Saint-Pierre Museum, we had to wait almost ten years before being able to admire his works in Paris.

Produced in 2021, the Double Trouble exhibition, a duo show with Maya McCallum creates a real event and marks the start of a regular collaboration with the Arts Factory gallery which continues in 2023 with the solo show Greetings from Home.
