Collection: clovis trouille

To mark the 50th anniversary of his death, the Arts Factory gallery produced in september 2025 a group exhibition dedicated to Clovis Trouille (1889-1975), from which the limited editions available on our website originate.

This collaboration was made possible by Henri Lambert, the artist's grandson, who, after orchestrating the sensational sale of his archive at Christie's and regularly facilitating loans to institutions, now wishes to contribute spreading his grandfather's legacy to a new audience.

Associated with the surrealist movement, Clovis Trouille never ceased to challenge religion, the army, and the bourgeoisie, drawing his inspiration from popular culture and the masterpieces of the Renaissance.

Subversive in his choice of subjects, where eroticism and blasphemy often went hand in hand, pioneer in the use of photography and collage as preparatory media, he nevertheless remained on the fringes of the art market, believing that a painting created for sale was doomed from the outset.

A distinguished provocateur and champion of a style he mischievously defined as visionary, rogue, and voyeuristic, Clovis Trouille is undoubtedly one of the first alternative artists of the 20th century. As such, he remains a major influence for many activists from the underground scene that we represent today.
