Collection: eldo yoshimizu

Eldo Yoshimizu was born in 1965 in Tokyo. A visual artist known for creating numerous public sculptures in Japan, Eldo Yoshimizu came to manga later in life, drawn to the narrative possibilities offered by the graphic novel genre known as gegika.

He began by drawing Ryuko, his first series, then presented it, chapter by chapter, in Tokyo art galleries. This unusual approach was noticed by the French publishing house Le Lézard Noir, which released the complete story in two volumes in 2016 and 2018. A tribute to yakuza films, this arty manga evokes both Kill Bill and the slender heroines of Leiji Matsumoto. It has now been translated in Italy, Argentina, Germany, and the United States.

In October 2020, Gamma Draconis paired Eldo Yoshimizu with writer Benoist Simmat for an esoteric thriller set in Europe. Through scenes located in London and Paris, Eldo rediscovers his passion for architecture and urban planning with breathtaking mastery.

Hen Kai Pan is then published on April 22, 2022, coinciding with World Earth Day. Created entirely in ink and watercolor, this metaphysical epic depicts, across 200 contemplative pages, the judgment of humanity by the spirits of the earth, particularly enraged by the consequences of human activity on the planet.

Eldo Yoshimizu is currently working on Ryuko Volumes 3 & 4, scheduled for simultaneous release in 2027.
