Collection: rebecka tollens

Rebecka Tollens was born in Stockholm in 1990. An artist with a dual French/Swedish culture, her atypical itinerary and the maturity of her production never cease to amaze. Initially intending to study international law, Rebecka radically changed her path in 2011, after a humanitarian mission in Ghana, to study illustration in Paris. During an internship in 2013, she met Effi and Laurent, who were just about to open their new space on rue de Charonne. The two gallery owners encouraged her to move towards a more personal universe, and programmed the highly acclaimed exhibition VIENS! in March 2015.

From the cracks of childhood to the fickleness of men, Rebecka Tollens delivers a lucid, uncompromising look at her upbringing, learning about desire and relationships. From surrealistic family scenes to one-night stands, this sometimes rough everyday life is portrayed with a feminist streak that's widely assumed. Executed in graphite and charcoal, with an undeniable sense of composition, the subjects are softened by dreamlike landscapes, reminiscent of her years spent in Scandinavia.

In 2020, The Last Wedding exhibition evoked the links Rebecka Tollens weaves between the afterlife and our world. Two years later, Tollens revisited this spiritual dimension with Eye of Womb, a breathtaking suite of drawings accompanied by the publication of Fetch Your Flowers. This 200-pages monograph looks back over an exciting decade of personal and artistic research.
